Ikigai Psychology - Teeya Yamaoka

Professional Development

As a Board Approved Supervisor and Professional Development Coach, I am here to support you with defining your purpose in your personal and professional life.

I draw on my knowledge of Ikigai Philosophy, Psychodynamic theory and  Eastern and Western practices in psychology to guide my work.

I believe it's important to know what targets you want to hit, but it's even more important to define your personal and professional values.

As a Board Approved Supervisor I provide  2 different types of services to support individuals at different stages in their journey.

  1. Supervision: Supervising early career psychologists, Psychologists in training (5+1) and facilitating transitions for overseas qualified professionals.

  2. Ikigai Coaching: For entrepreneurs, solopreneurs, freelancers and small business owners needing support and guidance with their service-based business.

"I believe it is important for people to develop a strong sense of identity. That is to understand what kind of person you are inside and outside of work and to know what kind of environment or lifestyle works best for your personality. Be honest with yourself. What are your strengths and weaknesses and what kind of lifestyle do you want to live? I am here to guide you on the process of defining your purpose."

Supervison

What is a Supervision?

  • Supervision focuses on reflecting on your clinical practice and developing your professional identity.

  • We discuss transference and countertransference, projections and biases that may show up in therapy as well as reflect upon experiences you're having in your own life.

  • If you are a part of the 5+1 registration program or an overseas qualified professional, supervision will be focused on reflecting on your practice and meeting the requirements for AHPRA to become a Registered Psychologist.

How are sessions conducted?

  • Sessions can be conducted in-person at the clinic or online.

How frequent are sessions?

  • The frequency of sessions will depend on whether you are a registered psychologist, a psychologist in training or an overseas-qualified practitioner training to become a psychologist in Australia.

What is my style as a Supervisor?

  • I value thinking creatively but I also believe it's important to have structure and set clear goals. My purpose is to help you understand your values as a therapist and to provide a space for you to discover what kind of therapist you want to be.

What are the costs involved?

  • For professionals already registered as a Psychologist, the cost is $195 per session. If you are a Provisional Psychologist in the  5+1 program or overseas qualified professionals, the cost of Supervision will depend on your stage of training.
