Dr Tara Crandon

"We each have inner wisdom; sometimes we struggle to hear it when we’re surrounded by the noise of life. By taking a moment to slow down, process what’s happening, and find the words to describe our own experience, we can reconnect to knowing what we want and need from life. "

Psychologist

I’m humbled by being able to sit with others during their moments of vulnerability, but also strength. I believe that therapy is a space where you can safely be your true self with someone who is fully with you in that moment, who cares, and who listens deeply.

I tend to take a conversational, curious, and contemplative approach to therapy (but I’m also not afraid to have a laugh!). My focus in sessions is to connect people to knowing what they might need from life, from others, or from themselves. This might look like learning to be compassionate with yourself, understanding your emotions and memories, exploring relationship patterns, or learning new ways to cope. This is with the intention to bring you closer to your values, purpose and meaning in life.

I am person-centred; recognising that each person is unique and tailoring my therapeutic approach for every person that comes through the door. In the first session, I usually ask whether there is something specific that you’d like to achieve with your time in therapy so that we can work towards your goals together. I typically draw on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Schema Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy.

In my own time, you can usually find me painting, reading crime fiction, going on nature walks, and researching/ writing about climate change and mental health.
