Tunteeya (Teeya) Yamaoka
"I believe everything is transient, nothing lasts forever, including the difficult experiences we have in life. Sometimes what we need to do is to let go of control, trust the human experience and take the plunge. When we are willing to feel the discomfort and let go of everything else, that's when we are most capable of growing"

Psychologist | Supervisor | Director
I've worked with children, young adults, adults, and couples struggling with a wide variety of issues, including anxiety, perfectionism, trauma, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and relationship problems through transitional periods of their lives. Alongside my work in private practice, I supervise provisional psychologists at the College of Professional Psychologists, supporting them on their pathway to registration.
In therapy, I am warm and assertive. I will provide a space for you to express yourself freely without judgment. I believe therapy is a space for self-reflection, identity exploration, understanding patterns, and changing them to improve your life. I aim to support you in discovering how to live more in alignment with your Ikigai, which translates to your "reason for being" or "purpose." Through tailored interventions, guidance, and practical strategies, therapy is a place for you to redefine yourself and your relationships.
In my personal life, I am passionate about art and physical health. I challenge myself through long-distance running and practice my creativity and observation skills through drawing classes. My Ikigai is found at the intersection of art and psychology. I love being a psychologist while also reserving space for creative expression; both are essential in keeping my soul alive.
